Reception Class

At BPS we believe that children learn best when they are engaged, happy and safe. This is why our first weeks are all about settling into a good classroom routine.

Our Reception Class lessons are educational, interactive, and fun! Children learn best through activities and we aim to keep our lessons very practical with lots of challenges.

The Autumn term started with ‘All About Me‘, where we talked about our families and where we are from. This allows us to explore all our diversity with appreciation as well as all the things that connect us and make us the same. Helping the children to get to know each other, boost their confidence and make friends.

Our topic throughout the year will involve a series of Eric Carle books, starting with The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This is a story the children are already familiar with which allows us to explore the vocabulary and sight words of time (days), fruits and colours in more depth, as well as lending itself to producing wonderful and creative art work.
